Abby and Mitch - Adventurous Elopement Death Valley

Abby asked us to be her elopement photographers for her and Mitch's elopement planned while visiting Las Vegas from the U.K.  She asked about doing her elopement photography at the Grand Canyon, but if we had any other suggestions let her know. We immediately suggested Death Valley which is amazing, unique and only a two hour drive from Las Vegas as compared to the four hours it would take to reach the Grand Canyon. We could not have been more exited, we travel there several time a year for our Nature's Album Workshops and absolutely love the landscapes and solitude you can find there. So we began planning this amazing shoot!

Abby and Mitch met us in Pahrump and followed us to Death Valley. Our first stop, Amarogosa Opera House, was a must. If you find yourself in the area this is a must see. With all the history behind Marta Becket and her opera house it is truly an amazing story. We had never taken a single photo of the opera house and this was the perfect occasion. Once we saw Abby's wedding dress (she was stunning in it) and Mitch's suit and pocket watch (he looked very dapper) we knew how perfectly they were going to look standing in line at the Opera House. From there we headed out to Badwater Basin, the lowest spot in North America at 282 feet below sea level. This is where we made the mile long hike in 90 plus degrees (cool for the area) to an isolated spot in the middle of the word famous salt flats.

We are in love with the shots we were able to capture while we were out there. These two could be models! We then packed everything up and made a few spots along the way to the Mesquite Sand Dunes, where again we had to hike another mile each way. The weather was amazing all day, with it never getting extremely hot in the hottest place on earth and having enough wind to blow Abby's veil around for us.

We then hiked back out well after sunset making this a long and grueling day for everyone. We want to thank Abby and Mitch for allowing us to be their elopement photographers and for taking this adventure though Death Valley with us. They hung in there, despite not being used to the heat and relentless sun beating down and were up for anything we asked while dressed in their wedding attire. Can't ask for more dedication than that!

Take a look at this amazing Elopement Photography and you can see way we think they made the right choice in choosing to Death Valley as the back drop for their elopement!
