A Wedding in Big Sky CountryWe arrived back home last week after spending a magical weekend in beautiful Bozeman, Montana. We were there to photograph a wedding. Obviously, that isn't unusual for us and though all of our weddings are special and we are honored to be a part of them in some small way, this one was extra special. Fact is Nick and Sarah are two of our closest friends. Sarah is a very talented artist (she carved every one of the beautiful round candles that graced each table at the reception) and Nick is a fellow landscape photographer and storm chaser. We spend a lot of time together storm chasing, capturing beautiful landscapes, hiking or just having dinner together and hanging out. Our joke every time we hang out is that we will see you again in 12 hours and it's almost true.Originally Nick and Sarah wanted us to be guests at their wedding so we could relax and enjoy the day but Kevin and I wanted to capture this very special day and we wouldn't have had it any other way.The location was perfect. The weather was perfect. Their pup, Brody, was in attendance and he looked very dapper wearing his floral necklace. Nick looked awesome, best we have ever seen him look. That's not meant to be an insult. The other thing we constantly say to each other is that we always look homeless when we are together. Glamor goes out the window when you are storm chasing, ha, ha. Standing the Test of Time Annie and Nino’s story began 12 years before their perfect wedding day on a crisp, clear fall day at a rustic farm in the mountains of Utah in 2019. As written on their “Walk Our Story” timeline dotting the side of the old, weathered barn that would host their epic reception party, Annie and Nino first met in the fall of 2007 at a bonfire on the beach in Carmel, California. They were kids at the time, he 14 and she 13. A few months later, as 2007 neared an end, Annie texted Nino to wish him a happy birthday and as they wrote it, “That text was the start of what became the love of a lifetime.”As their guests walked the length of that old, weather wall, they marveled over all Annie and Nino have done and accomplished together since. That wall at Kelly Creek Farm was covered in 12 years of collective love, loss and memories created as one. On that day Annie and Nino continued on that long journey, joining together in front of all their family and friends as husband and wife. Extreme Elopement at Twenty-Five Below Zero When Chelsea first approached me about her elopement, she explained that her and Justin had decided against a big wedding in favor of a courthouse ceremony, but they did still want great wedding photos to commemorate tying the knot! Currently, the couple resides in a town in Texas that Chelsea refers to as “quite unremarkable” (which I have to say, made me laugh) so she wanted, or probably a better word would be, craved, a location that was beautiful and epic!Originally, she mentioned possibly flying to Arizona, no specific time frame or season mentioned, but added if I had any other ideas to throw them her way. Immediately I thought of a place we had visited last fall … the Grand Tetons in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The only caveat - my specific vision lined up with a winter wonderland themed shoot. To my surprise, Chelsea was all for the idea. I explained in no uncertain terms that winter temperatures in the Tetons are brutal and she was still all for the idea. With that we quickly settled on mid-February for the photo shoot. RAINY DAYS AND SEDONA OPULENCEHow to begin to describe Julie and Corwin’s wedding?  From an explosion of exquisite white and pink flowers and elegant draping, delicious gourmet hamburgers with buns hand-branded with the couple’s initials, a sparkling bouquet of vintage broaches and the bride’s hand-made couture dress and groom’s custom suite, every detail was perfect.  What wasn’t perfect, or so it seemed, was the weather.  It was cloudy and wet, yet stunningly beautiful in every way!  Just goes to show that adverse weather doesn’t have to spell disaster … sometimes it adds to overall effect making everything even more stunning.  Without rain, you don’t have rainbows!Rainbows and weather aside, this wedding was over-the-top gorgeous! The floral and design by Events by Show Stoppers was opulent and Agave of Sedona was the perfect venue for this stormy Sedona wedding.  The rain outside seemed to enhance the décor, blending with the overall color palate as fog drifted in and out of the red rocks lining the background.  Just as the ceremony began, the rain subsided, a small bit of light made its way out and a brilliant pink rainbow emerged in a glowing pink sky.  The entire event was a wedding photographer’s dream and we were honored to be a part of this deluxe wedding! ...

A MARRIAGE OF CULTURESEddie and Pourya first contacted us to photograph their engagement party. We instantly bonded with them and knew we had to photograph their wedding, so we were delighted to hear back from them about a year later as they began planning their big day. They chose the gorgeous and elegant Royal Palms Resort and Spa as the backdrop for their wedding and reception.It was a beautiful, sunny day typical of Scottsdale in the springtime. The couple chose to highlight their wedding with a blending of cultures that celebrated both Hispanic and Persian customs. Pourya’s father officiated the Persian half of the ceremony and it quickly became very emotional for everyone involved. Haleh, of Details by Haleh did a wonderful job coordinating the event. Pre-Wedding Adventure Session at Yosemite N.P. Roberta and Keries live in Hong Kong and originally contacted us with an interest in doing their pre-wedding photo shoot in Death Valley.  That all sounded great until we asked when exactly they would like to do their adventure session and their reply was … late July!  When we asked them if they were aware that the average daily temperature in Death Valley in July is in excess of 120 degrees, they responded that they hadn’t though about that.  Quickly realizing that a photo shoot in Death Valley in the middle of summer was out of the question they took our suggestion and opted instead to go to Yosemite National Park.We started the adventure before sunrise at Glacier Point in Yosemite then headed down through Yosemite Valley for a few more photo ops on our way to Mono Lake.  As we made our way across Tioga Pass it began to rain continued as we reached Mono Lake.  Though it was 93 degrees in Yosemite Valley, the temperature dropped into the low 40’s at the to[of Tioga Pass and only risen to the low 50’s at Mono Lake.  We used the rain to our advantage before taking a break to warm back up.  It looked bleak, with steady rain and a heavy blanked of clouds that seemed to have no end in sight.  Near sunset we noticed a very slight, almost ...

  Chyrene and Fu's Page, Arizona Elopement Photography  Chyrene and Fu are from Malaysia but live in Qatar. They chose to come all the way to the western U.S. to have their wedding photos taken. THey originally only wanting to shoot at Antelope Canyon but we suggested taking advantage of all the beautiful backdrops around Page, Arizona. They were so excited that we made this suggestion and they truly enjoyed every moment of the shoot. This was made even more specail as these were going to be their only wedding photos as they had no formal photos taken before this. Chyrene even bought her wedding dress solely for this elopement style photo shoot! We worked out an adventurous schedule that spanned the entire day. The day started with an epic shoot in Antelope Canyon and got lucky enough at the beginning to catch the famous light beams the slot canyons  are known for. Next we traveled out to Alstrom Point overlooking Lake Powell and had a so much fun! Finally the shoot came to an end with the breath taking scene beneath the  stars filled sky. This enabled us to create one of our signature couple with a stary sky images we have become know for. It was wonderful getting to know Chyrene and Fu during this long, fun and adventurous elopement in Northern Arizona!  

Pat and Shannon's Sedona Engagement Photography We have been wanted to blog this Sedona engagement shoot for quit some time and are finally getting it posted. Check it out!Pat and Shannon had planned a trip to Arizona and ask us to by their engagement photographers. They know they wanted stunning engagement photographs taken in Sedona. They anted something that showed off Seona's beautiful landscape and we know where we wanted to take them. This gorgeous overview is one of our favorite places for elopement or portrait photography shoots in Sedona. It did not disappoint on that evening. Pat and Shannon drove up from Phoenix and we met them where the road turn into dirt to make this the nearly hour long drive each way.  They had gone on a long hike in Sedona and had not eaten much all day but they made it through the cold and windy weather. This overview is know for its cold and windy conditions. The light was amazing to photograph in all day and we could not have been happier with the images we were able to get that day. We even broke out the drone for the first time on an during engagement photography session and Sedona made for the perfect backdrop for the maiden flight. Abby and Mitch - Adventurous Elopement Death Valley Abby asked us to be her elopement photographers for her and Mitch's elopement planned while visiting Las Vegas from the U.K.  She asked about doing her elopement photography at the Grand Canyon, but if we had any other suggestions let her know. We immediately suggested Death Valley which is amazing, unique and only a two hour drive from Las Vegas as compared to the four hours it would take to reach the Grand Canyon. We could not have been more exited, we travel there several time a year for our Nature's Album Workshops and absolutely love the landscapes and solitude you can find there. So we began planning this amazing shoot!Abby and Mitch met us in Pahrump and followed us to Death Valley. Our first stop, Amarogosa Opera House, was a must. If you find yourself in the area this is a must see. With all the history behind Marta Becket and her opera house it is truly an amazing story. We had never taken a single photo of the opera house and this was the perfect occasion. Once we saw Abby's wedding dress (she was stunning in it) and Mitch's suit and pocket watch (he looked very dapper) we knew how perfectly they were going to look standing in line at the Opera House. Jessica & Darwin's Destination Wedding - Allenspark Colorado We always love photographing destination weddings and were even more excited when we heard this wedding was going to be at The Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark Colorado, which has gerat views of Rocky Mountain National Park. A few years back we were the wedding photographers for Jessica's uncle's destination wedding in Sedona , so the opportunity to photograph Jessica and Darwin's wedding was going to be extra specail. As nature and wildlife photographers (Nature's Album) we would combine the two during this trip and that is always a plus!It was an amazing day with their families traveling to be at their wedding, great views of the majestic Rocky Mountains for their backdrop Jessica and Darwin had the prefect ceremony. Even as it started to rain Jessica kept on going, nothing was going to get in the way of her dream wedding. As the sky cleared for the reception and in the end we were able to capture one last image for the newlyweds under an amazing night sky. These two had so much personality and were so fun to work with!! Destination Engagement Shoot - Rocky Mountain N.P. We always jump at the chance to photograph most destination weddings but we were even more excited when we heard this wedding was going to be just outside of Rocky Mountain National Park in Allenspark, Colorado! We are also nature and wildlife photographers so when we combine them both it is always a plus! Check our our work if you want Nature's Album. We also were the wedding photographers for Jessica's uncle's destination wedding in Sedona a few years back, which made us want the opprotunity to photograph Jessica and Darwin's wedding even more.The day before the wedding we met up with Darwin and Jessica in Rocky Mountain National Park to do their engagement shoot. It also happened to be the only day they were getting to explore the National Park, so we d enjoyed playing tour guide and taking them all around the Park. Elopement Photographers Sedona We were the wedding photographers for Kirsten and Brian's intimate wedding at The Creek House at the beautiful L'Auberge de Sedona. From the start they know they wanted to do a post wedding shoot in Sedona. This would allow they to spend more time with their close friends and family on the wedding day and still get amazing Sedona wedding photography. Kirsten had Events by Show Stoppers for the floral for her wedding day and recreate the exact wedding bouquet for the day after shoot. She didn't stop their she had Patricia Vega of Le Petit de Sedona do the same hair and make up for both days. We had made several suggestions for locations to do the post wedding photography and Kristen did choose our favorite over look to the shoot. We met Kirsten and Brian a drove them on the dirt road to start the photo shoot. We had such a blast with these two and took the shoot up until after dark and were able to get beautiful star pictures at the end. Take a look at these amazing post wedding photographs and you can see why we always look forward to photography weddings or elopements in Sedona. Yosemite Destination Trash The Dress We were heading to Merced, CA with our friends Jodi and Ryan of Everlasting Cinema, as a photography veodography team to shoot a multi day South Asian Wedding, so a trip to Yosemite was a must!! We had been wanting to do a Trash the Dress shoot for Jodi and Ryan. They had a someone else photogroapher their wedding and we never happy with their photographs. We just couldn't have that. As friends and wedding photographers we had been waiting for the perfect location and now we were going to be in Yosemite, it was a must!After a little convincing we were able to get Jodi to bring and unpack her wedding dress for the shoot. This was also their first time to Yosemite so we enjoyed playing tour guide along the way. We had a blast  photographing our friends all over Yosemite!! You could not ask for a better backdrop to recreate your dream wedding photographs. We especially like the Milky Way images we were able to capture up at Glacier Point, so magical.We all laughed, explored and had such a blast along the way. Death Valley Destination Wedding We always love when a bride is willing to do a photo shoot or have a wedding in a gorgeous destination. We have photographed Destination Weddings and Elopements all over the world but still enjoy the adventures closer to home. Death Valley is one of our favorite weekend getaways and when Angie asked if we would do a pre-wedding shoot for her and Liam there, we jumped at the chance. As Phoenix based wedding photographers it was a quick overnight destination. Followed by their wedding here in Phoenix at the Superstation Mountains. That is a whole story in itself.For Liam this was truly a Destination Wedding as he is came all the way from England. This proved to be an adventure. We drove up to Beatty, NV where we arrived very late! We started very early and spent all day hiking, shooting and getting sand all over us as we took this couple all around the Death Valley. We then headed back, well after sunset, to Phoenix for the wedding ceremony the next morning.Thank you to our dear friend Angie and her husband Liam for letting us have this great adventure and being part of the start of all your adventures. 

Rachel and Victor chose a late summer day to have their elopement at Shoshone Point on the rim of the Grand Canyon. Late summer in Arizona means monsoon season and on this day the monsoon storms were really putting on a show! Despite rounds of rain, lightning, strong winds and even hail, these two soldiered through and saw the beauty in it all. There was even a rainbow for them to enjoy. This is how elopements should be ... two people celebrating their love and dedication for one another, worrying about nothing else, enjoying be in the moment whatever that may be. We love photographing elopements for just this very reason and had such a great time hanging with them despite the crazy weather. Truth be told though, the hail did sting a little, ha, ha, but we still love shooting in wild weather! It can translate into exceptional photos. Private Estate Wedding Scottsdale, Arizona Everything about this Scottsdale wedding was breathtaking and fun!  The private estate in Scottsdale, Arizona made for a striking backdrop and equally striking was the personalities of the bride and groom as wellas all who attended.  Once the formalities were over these people definitely knew how to party!  Jessica and Travis are also very close friends with two of our past couples, Melissa and Grey and Karima and Terry.  It was so wonderful to see them all again and catch up a little!  Thank you so much Jessica and Travis for having us as your wedding photographers and allowing us to be part of your special day!

Aniebiet and Damien were married in a stunning two-day long traditional Nigerian wedding last May. The second day of their event consisted of the traditional White Wedding and was held at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona and the reception lighting by Karma Event Lighting. The couple looked amazing and the wedding wowed the crowd, especially when Aniebiet was ushered in to the ceremony on a beautiful horse and carriage. Aniebiet and Damien had an amazing two-day Nigerian wedding event last May. The first day was held at the gorgeous Chateau Luxe in Phoenix and was dedicated to the traditional Nigerian wedding. It was full of surprises, including fireworks and the bride being symbolically brought from a far distance with her arrival by helicopter and beautiful lighting by Karma Event Lighting ... simply stunning. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these two! Dawn and Nick are such warm, fun and amazing people and it was such a treat being their wedding photographers! On top of that we got to work with our "Sedona Dream Team" of vendors, so the day could not have gone more smoothly.Dawn and Nick were married in Sedona, Arizona on October 17th, 2014 Agaveof Sedona 2014.  This venue is gorgeous and has spectacular views of Sedona's awe-inspiring red rocks. Jim and Ken and their team at Show Stoppers of Sedona provided all the decor and floral and it made everything that much more stunning. One of our favorite officiants, Reverend Andrew Murphy of Heart of Sedona Weddings, presided over the wedding wearing a go-pro strapped to his chest to get a bird's eye view of the nuptials in progress ... a request made specifically by the couple. The party raged well into the night under the guidance of one of Sedona's best DJ's, Bobby Russell of Sedona Sounds.Thank you Nick and Dawn for having us as part of your wedding day! LOVED this rustic chic wedding held at the Windmill Winery in Florence, Arizona!  Rachael and Adam came all the way from Kentucky to have their perfect desert wedding.  Both love horses and country living so the setting seemed more than appropriate for the couple.  We enjoyed every moment of this lively, fun-filled wedding!  Thank you both for having us as your wedding photographers!

The day after Wendy and Jon's wedding at Merry-Go-Round Rock and Tlaquepaque, we headed back up to Sedona to photograph their Trash the Dress shoot. What a great time!! These two were up for anything, plus they look like models. We quickly determined that it is impossible to take a bad photo of Wendy ... what a beauty!They brought along their very sweet dog, Riley, who made the shoot even more interesting. We started out in Oak Creek Canyon at West Fork Trail and finished up at Red Rock Crossing in lower Sedona. Thank you both again for having us as your wedding photographers. It was a true pleasure!

Wendy and Jon are from Minnesota and were married at the end of May in a uniquely spiritual Sedona wedding. The ceremony was held at Merry-Go-Round Rock which was a perfect setting. It was officiated by the amazing Reverend Shanandoah Sterling of Sterling Weddings of Sedona and was full of Native American tradition. The couple's son, Liam, played and integral role throughout the ceremony, starting with being cute as a button carrying a sign in front of his mom that read, "Papa, here comes your wife!" Jenn and John recently contacted us to ask if we did post-wedding photo sessions. We told them we did and the date was set. These sessions are generally referred to as trash the dress sessions, however we recently decided to give our sessions a fresh, new name. We now call them our Couture Sessions. We feel the name better represents to type of shoots we conduct. Yes, we have some brides that get into the water in their dress but that is only if they decide they want to. Our objective with these shoots is to go to amazing locations in amazing light and produce spectacular and inventive images!We did not photograph Jenn and John's wedding and while they loved their wedding images they simply felt they didn't have enough time to get a lot of images together. Unfortunately this is not uncommon on a wedding day as time frames for couple portraits are often short and hectic. This is why these sessions are so much fun. They allow for plenty of time to move around to get the best shots possible! We took Jenn and John to the amazing Superstition Mountains in east Phoenix and even played around with some night shots. We had such an amazing time getting to know these newlyweds and creating these images!

We are often asked if we do portrait sessions and the answer is ... of course we do portrait sessions :-)! In fact we have quite a few couples that continue coming to us through the years for all their photography needs, long after their wedding day. This is one aspect to the job that we love! It is always so much fun becoming friends with our past couples and watching them grow as a family. The McQueen's are one of those families and they are preparing to welcome baby number two. We met up at South Mountain a little before Christmas to do new family photos of Amanda, Ryan and their little girl, Kaity, and also to do a few maternity photos of Amanda. We are looking forward to seeing them again in about a month after the birth of their son!

Robin and Mychal came all the way from Illinois this fall to have their dream destination wedding in sunny Sedona, Arizona! It was a gorgeous day with just a touch of wind ... well, a lot of wind, but that was of no matter to the happy bride and groom. To them, the day and the place were absolutely perfect!Robin contacted us quite a while back and we quickly formed a wonderful relationship with her through email, so needless to say, we were so, so, so excited when her big day finally rolled around! She hired a stellar team of vendors including Liz Margin and her company, Sedona Beauty Team, for the perfect makeup and hair and Reverend Shanandoah of Sterling Weddings of Sedona, did a lovely job as always officiating her authentic Native American ceremony for Robin and Mychal. A special rose was placed in a chair in memory of Robin's late father and after the ceremony Robin, along with her mother and two children, tossed the petals of the rose off the cliff and into the beautiful Sedona landscape below in a touching gesture.Thank you Robin and Mychal for having us as your wedding photographers! We are always so excited when one of our images when a Fearless Award in Fearless Photographers!  They are very hard to get and it is always an honor and on top of that, the photo is one of our all time favorites from one of our all time favorite couples, Allyson and Eric :-)!  This photo was taken during their first look and it is such a sublime moment
